Any rogue-like requires some kind of mechanic to permanently upgrade your character. Some games approach this with a hub station inside the levels themselves or have some mobile solution to upgrade permanent character traits on the fly. Since Trial of Wrathnyr already has non-permanent upgrades during the run and it could overwhelm the player, we decided to create a hub level where the player returns to after a raid has been completed or they have died. The goal is to have multiple friendly NPCs that act as merchants offering permanent upgrades through armor pieces, spells, enchantments, and more.

Introducing The Camp: this is the players' home. In future iterations, different characters can be selected and upgraded here.
Hi there! I'm Pandelis Kyropoulos, also known as kyrobyt, and I'm an indie game developer passionate about stylized game graphics. I specialize in retro PS1 and PS2-style graphics (commonly known as PSX) for video game design. I believe that ultra-realistic graphics can distract from truly engaging gameplay, while retro aesthetics offer a purity in game design that modern AAA graphics cannot match.
